‘Servant’s heart’: Pickens County deputy retires after 50 years of service

PICKENS, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – After serving the community for five decades, a Pickens County deputy is retiring.

The sheriff’s office said starting in 1975, Jan J.B. Kelley spent time serving with the Easley Police Department, Easley Fire Department and the SC Highway Patrol. In 1978, officials said he joined the ranks of the Pickens County Sherriff’s Office and has called it home ever since.

Since 1978, officials said Kelley has worked as a detective in narcotics and the special victims unit. He’s now ending his career as the school resource officer for Dacusville Middle School…
