GRAND RAPIDS, MI —The housing shortage in Grand Rapids and Kent County has narrowed slightly, but the region still needs an estimated 33,914 homes and rental units by 2029 to meet demand, a new study shows.
Here’s a breakdown of the housing shortage, including the need for rentals versus owner-occupied homes, the price points at which homes are needed, and by how much production would need to rise to meet the 33,914 goal.
