Bigger police presence expected in NuLu after consecutive weekends of ‘street parties’

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Some businesses in Louisville’s NuLu neighborhood have had enough of large crowds they say are drinking in the streets and causing disruption overnight for a second consecutive weekend.

“We feel that this is out of the business’ hands and has become largely a Metro and LMPD issue,” the NuLu Business Association said in a statement, stressing these ‘street parties’ aren’t happening inside businesses. “The NuLu Business Association is considering hiring our own off-duty LMPD officers, but without more support and visible presence from LMPD, we don’t see a reasonable solution to the current issues happening along Market Street.”
