‘I know he’s proud:’ Williamsburg mother turns loss into law with new VA seatbelt law

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WWBT) – July 4 will mark five years since Christy King’s 18-year-old son Christopher died in a car crash.

“Now I’m in the reality that the rest of my life, Christopher won’t be here,” she said.

On Tuesday, King returned to the crash site. The driver was going 80 mph on a 30 mph road. Christopher was in the backseat, and he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt.

“That’s when the car, it actually went airborne, landed a little on its side, and that’s when Christopher was thrown from the car to his death, to about right there in the road,” King said…
