Zablocki Center to celebrate decades of service for Toledo’s seniors, start of new chapter at Wayman Palmer

TOLEDO, Ohio — After nearly five decades of serving older adults in Toledo’s Polish Village, the Chester J. Zablocki Senior Center is preparing to begin a new chapter.

The center, which opened in 1978, has been a longstanding hub for wellness, connection and services such as daily meals, fitness classes, educational programs and health screenings for residents aged 60 and older.

To honor its 47 years of service, the Zablocki Center will host a farewell celebration on Thursday, July 3. The event begins at 11 a.m. and will include a community picnic and a parade escorted by Toledo police at 1 p.m. The send-off will serve as both a tribute to the center’s history and a look ahead to its future.
