Men sentenced, receive jail-time credit for theft of 1,200-pound student sculpture

TOLEDO, Ohio — Two men who were charged in the theft of a 1,200-pound student sculpture have entered pleas in the charges and received sentences.

Kevin Sheriff, 69, and Melvin Losek Jr., 40, both pleaded no contest to a first-degree misdemeanor charge of Attempt to Commit an Offense in Toledo Municipal Court. Upon their arrests on June 18, both were originally charged with fifth-degree felony charges of breaking and entering.

A judge has since sentenced Sheriff and Losek on the lesser charges to 12 and 10 days in jail at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio, respectively. However, both received credit for the full number of days…
