Lafayette short-term rental owners press property rights case in federal suit

For Michael DeSelle, October 2024 marked the beginning of the end of a profitable business, one that he claims went from making roughly $6,000 a month to half that in the span of just a few weeks.

DeSelle, who until recently ran a short-term rental at a Saints Streets property he and his wife own, had held on to hope that a ban on properties rented out on platforms like Airbnb and Vrbo would not go through.
