Multiple Arrests Made After Hopkins County Deputies Witness Shots Being Fired From A Vehicle

On the evening of June 30, 2025, a group of five individuals, ranging in age from 17 to 20, were arrested in Hopkins County, Texas following a deadly conduct incident near Loop 301 and Jefferson. The traffic stop was prompted by officers witnessing a firearm discharge and a vehicle fleeing at a high rate of speed.

According to police affidavits, Hopkins County performed a felony traffic stop on a vehicle after seeing shots being fired from the vehicle. During the stop, deputies discovered open containers of alcohol and a Taurus G2 9mm handgun on the floorboard. All occupants were taken into custody and booked into the Hopkins County jail. The shooter was identified as James Tutt, no injuries were reported.
