Gorge Dam removal moves to phase two

AKRON, Ohio — The Cuyahoga River will be one step closer to flowing the way nature intended after the removal of Summit County’s Gorge Dam. It’s a project that’s been in the works for decades.

The dam was originally built to generate hydroelectric power. Now, after more than 100 years, the Gorge Dam is coming down.

The dam is 60 feet high and 420 feet wide and no longer serves any useful purpose…
