The Saratoga Springs City Council passed a new ordinance Tuesday night banning camping on city-owned property. The measure was approved in a 3-2 vote and expands on existing rules that already prohibit sitting or lying on sidewalks.
Under the new law, individuals may be fined for sitting or lying on public benches, curbs, landscaped areas, or in doorways adjacent to sidewalks. First-time violations result in a warning, while second and subsequent offenses carry fines of up to $250.
