DAYTON, Tenn. (WSMV) – Multiple agencies coordinated to rescue more than 50 people left stranded due to flooding during storms north of Chattanooga on Sunday.
On Sunday, thunderstorms quickly moved into southern Middle Tennessee, causing many waterways to overflow. Many people were caught outdoors in Hamilton and Reah counties, unable to cross back over creeks that had been easily passable just hours before.

Around 6 p.m. on Sunday, the Mowbray Volunteer Fire Department responded to the Pocket Wilderness hiking area off Montlake Road. Flooding from Waldens Ridge, Signal and Soddy Mountain creeks had combined, and more than 50 people were trapped on the wrong side of the water, according to the report…
