Ted Nugent Sparks Safety Concerns With Firearm In Lansing Capital

There is an ongoing investigation by the Michigan State police, which is looking into how and why musician Ted Nugent was able to walk into the capital in Lansing with a firearm, especially since it’s a weapons-free zone and has been since 2023.

The musician was going to the capital to discuss issues he had allegedly faced from the Department of Natural Resources, when multiple legislators noticed that he had a firearm on him.

This was highly illegal, considering that he was neither law enforcement nor military. A video posted by Representative Laurie Pohutsky of her describing the situation detailed how apparently it was known at check-in when he went through the metal detector that he did have a firearm, and yet it was never removed from his possession.

She went on to say, even afterwards, that they continued to do nothing about the fact that he was in the capital with a firearm, until police finally removed it from his person.

This is incredibly alarming after just two weeks ago, Minnesota Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, were murdered in their home.
