Pounds of drugs, guns seized during Nashville traffic stop; Suspect facing federal charges

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Nashville man faces federal drug and firearms charges and Metro police seized more than 2.5 pounds of drugs and multiple guns while on patrol.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee, citing court documents, reported the Metro Nashville Police Department had been conducting a routine patrol in the area of Whites Creek Pike and West Trinity Lane in Nashville on June 19. The officers reportedly saw 49-year-old Darryl Deshaun Humphrey standing near a white Cadillac Escalade and discovered he had a suspended driver’s license.

Humphrey then drove north along Whites Creek Pike and officers initiated a traffic stop based on the license offense. When the Escalade came to a stop, police allegedly saw Humphrey move from the driver’s seat to the passenger seat before getting out of the SUV and telling officers he had not been driving.

Humphrey was then told to stop walking, but he allegedly ignored officers’ commands and “took a fighting stance,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee, and an MNPD officer used his electric shock device to subdue and arrest him…
