The heat is on, which means it’s time to head to one of St. Pete’s coolest destinations: The James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art (150 Central Avenue). Filled with incredible galleries, stunning artwork, and a delightful new restaurant and cafe, The James has always been a favorite of ours here at I Love the Burg, and now they’ve given us yet another reason to stop in for a visit: free ice cream.
Not that we needed an incentive to visit the celebrated (and air-conditioned!) downtown museum, but with daily highs in the 90s projected through September, this is an offer we plan to take advantage of at least a few times this summer.
From July 1 through September 30, every visitor who purchases a ticket to The James will receive a coupon for a free cone of soft serve ice cream from their beautiful new on-site cafe, The Canyon. No hoops, catches, or hidden fees – just a little something to cool us down during the hottest time of year.
While the offer extends for three full months, we’ll be planning to take advantage of it just about immediately. With the long holiday weekend kicking off the month of July, it’s the perfect time to spend a couple hours indoors, out of the heat, enjoying one of the most impressive collections of art in Tampa Bay – with a sweet treat to top it off.
The James Museum is open daily beginning at 10 am, and tickets can be purchased on-site or in advance online.
The Canyon showcases the tastes of the American West
Of course, the free ice cream isn’t the only recent reason we’ve had to stop by The James. With the opening of The Canyon in June, The James welcomed a new star to the downtown St. Pete culinary scene. The sparkling new restaurant features inventive dishes inspired by the American West and created by a Food Network Chopped Champion, Chef Zakari Davila of Catering By The Family…
