Sand Seeking Support from All Iowans

–State Auditor Rob Sand brought his gubernatorial campaign to Algona Monday, part of a tour throughout NW Iowa this week. Sand addressed a standing-room-only crowd at the Algona Public Library, where he laid out his vision of state government, a vision he says would be better with more options for the voters.

Sand, the only Democrat to hold a statewide office in Iowa, took questions from the audience for the majority of his visit, one of which asked how he could rebuild trust that the public may have lost in elected officials.

In June, Governor Reynolds vetoed a bill that would have restricted the use of eminent domain to secure land for a carbon capture pipeline project. Sand says he can’t see how that pipeline benefits the general public.

While many topics focused on Iowa specifically, Sand was asked how the possible passage of President Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” would impact the state…
