U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped two major drug smuggling attempts over the weekend at El Paso, Texas, ports of entry, seizing a total of 127.3 pounds of methamphetamine in separate incidents.
The first interception occurred June 28 at the Ysleta international crossing, where a 30-year-old Mexican woman attempted to enter the U.S. driving a Chrysler Pacifica. A CBP officer referred the vehicle for secondary inspection after a scan revealed irregularities, and a drug-sniffing dog then alerted to the presence of narcotics, prompting a full search.
