The 4th of July in Lubbock has always been eventful. We’ve had big, bold, and beautiful celebrations—and low moments like brawls in the streets.
Who am I to criticize how Lubbock celebrates the 4th? I wasn’t responsible, but I was very much involved in promoting and hosting a giant fireworks display that exploded about thirty seconds in at a Lubbock waterpark. In other words, I’ve seen things!
I don’t know about your neighborhood, but I live across from the Lubbock Business Park, and I guess everyone over there thinks it’s “close enough” to go ahead and set off fireworks there. Again, I was involved in tomfoolery involving Roman candles strapped to trailer hitches…
