Rural county jails see issues with staffing, turnover

LUBBOCK, Texas — Rural county jails are seeing staffing issues with keeping correctional officers long-term.

Dawson County sheriff’s office posted on their social media page Tuesday that they were hiring for a full-time jailer position.

“It can be really hard finding folks in these particular small counties,” said Jail administrator Ross Braillif. “Unfortunately, in the smaller facilities, we don’t have those resources to be able to do that.”…
