LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The weather pattern across the West Texas area will undergo changes this Independence Day holiday weekend. Before the change begins, however, another day or two of more of the same.
Additional spotty showers, along with the occasional rumble of thunder, are likely on the South Plains area today, tonight, and tomorrow. Rain once again likely will favor the southern and eastern sections of the KCBD/FOX34 viewing area.
A generally cloudy sky, high humidity, and the showers will hold high temperatures to well below average again today. This time of year Lubbock’s average high is 93°. The July 2 record high is 106°, on the date in 1989.
Severe weather remains unlikely. Most of the rain will be light, likely totaling less than a quarter inch. A few spots may briefly experience moderate rainfall, with somewhat heavier amounts possible.
