City wants to block release of 911 calls, other records of deadly flood

The city of San Antonio is seeking to withhold from the news media 911 recordings and other emergency response records related to the June 12 flash floods that killed 13 people.

In response to a public records request from the San Antonio Express-News, the city attorney’s office invoked a sweeping list of exemptions it said justified withholding the information under Texas public records law.

The Express-News sought the information as part of its coverage of the deadly flooding, which swamped roads around Loop 410 and Perrin Beitel Road on the Northeast Side and the intersection of Callaghan Road and Highway 90 near Leon Creek on the West Side.
