With all the construction going on in Downtown Loveland, it was a great surprise to hear about an established Colorado restaurant wanting to take over the closed Sports Station.
Sports Station Closes in Fall of 2024, Has Become Run Down
Given that nobody’s there to take care of things anymore, it’s not a huge surprise to see all the weeds and unkept trees overtaking the outside of the building at the corner of 4th Street and Railroad Avenue.
The Colorado & Southern Railway depot building dates back to 1902, having shut down as a depot in 1980. Since then, it has been a few things, most notably Sports Station American Grill.
2026 Will See Another New Start for Loveland’s Downtown Depot
In the beginning of July 2025, I was informed that there was a sign on the side of Sports Station, talking about something new coming in 2026. I rushed over there to investigate and found the sign(s:) Echo Brewing & Pizzeria will be occupying the space.
Echo Brewing & Pizzeria has been around since 2014, an off-shoot of Mirror Image Brewing, started by twin brothers. Their Erie spot is a renovated fire station in Downtown, and has become a loved “hot spot” for the little town.

Given Echo’s success with renovating buildings to help revitalize a downtown area fits right into what Sports Station and Downtown Loveland need. In 2025, the city began renovating 4th Street, which they hope to have completed by spring/summer of 2026…
