LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — An explosion at a fireworks factory in China is having a direct impact on one of Southern Nevada’s Independence Day events.
The Damboree Committee announced late changes to this year’s celebration after learning their fireworks order — supplied by Shanzhou Fireworks — had been canceled. The news comes after a deadly blast at the company’s facility in China’s Hunan Province killed nine people and injured 26 others.
“The entire Damboree Committee is deeply saddened by the lives lost in Central China,” Damboree Chair Roger Hall said. “Canceling the show would disappoint residents, especially children, so we worked with our vendor to get a smaller supply. The show will go on, but it will be noticeably shorter.”…
