Upstate NY bar apologizes for calling senior customers ‘old bitches’ on bill

WATERVLIET — The owners of an Upstate New York bar have apologized after a staff member referred to a party of seven senior customers as “old bitches.”

Ron and Helen Wilkinson, who opened the bar Deacon Blues, at 806 25th St. in Watervliet, N.Y., in July 1979 and named it after a song by Steely Dan, are described as “mortified” that a server put the label on separate receipts for seven women friends who live together in a senior community…
