Rensselaer city contractor sends cease and desist letter to Mayor Mike Stammel

RENSSELAER — A city contractor has issued a cease and desist letter to Rensselaer Mayor Mike Stammel’s office after the Republican questioned the involvement of the firm — which also dabbles in political campaigns — in preparing a budget plan for the Democrat-controlled Common Council.

Syndicate Strategies owner Matt Nelligan alleges that Stammel defamed the group in a news release by inflating the price tag of the company’s contract with Rensselaer by $20,000 and questioning whether it would also work on Democratic Council President John DeFrancesco’s mayoral campaign.
