CLEVELAND (WJW) – Planned Parenthood has confirmed that the organization’s Cleveland health center closed its doors on May 31.
According to the organization, there were many factors that played a role in the shuttering of the facility on Euclid Avenue, but the number one reason was the withholding of Title X funds by the Trump administration, which Planned Parenthood said could shut down as many as 200 health centers across the country.
“We were able to provide low to no cost birth control, emergency contraception, cancer screening, testing and treatment for sexually-transmitted infections and unfortunately without those Title X funds, we were no longer able to sustain that health center,” said Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio spokesperson Diamond Crumby.
