First batteries manufactured at Greensboro-Randolph Toyota megasite have shipped

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Toyota electric vehicle battery plant, located at the Greensboro-Randolph megasite, has hit a major milestone — the site has started shipping batteries for the first time.

The batteries are going to Toyota’s assembly plant in Alabama, where they will be installed in Corolla Cross Hybrids.

Toyota’s $14 billion plant in the Triad is still under construction, though 2,000 people already work there. When it’s fully operational, more than 5,000 people will work there…
