PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend last month had previously pointed a gun at her, Calhoun County detectives say they were told by someone familiar with the family.
The shooting happened June 3 on Gorsline Road near 11 Mile Road in Pennfield Township, northeast of Battle Creek. When Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived, they found 34-year-old Ofellia Baldwin outside a home with a gunshot wound to the head. She was taken to the hospital, where authorities say she died on June 13.

According to court documents filed by investigators, Baldwin’s son told detectives that his mother and boyfriend Kyle McNutt, who lived with them, had been arguing the day of the shooting. The son said “his mother was angry and didn’t like her life,” the court document says in part.
