AYNOR, S.C. (WBTW) — Just two weeks after a fire destroyed his home and left him with severe burn injuries, a Conway police officer is set to return home and continue his recovery.
Sgt. Chris Johnson suffered the injuries in a June 21 fire at his home in Aynor. An Horry County Fire Rescue spokesman told News 13 on Wednesday that the fire was accidental and caused by a grill explosion.
Johnson’s daughter, Katie Mishoe, said the day began like any other.
“We woke up that morning, we all slept in, went over, ate a late breakfast together,” Mishoe said. “I had plans to go to the beach with a few friends, and my parents had planned to hang out by the pool and cook and grill.”…
