NEW YORK (PIX11) – Young girls from across the city gathered in Brooklyn today for a unique event centered on self-expression and confidence.
The Barclays Center buzzed with excitement Wednesday as 50 Girl Scouts gathered for a special workshop hosted by the New York Liberty. The event aimed to help young girls embrace and care for their natural hair while celebrating the anniversary of California’s historic CROWN Act—the first state law to ban race-based hair discrimination in schools and workplaces.

“Today we’re learning about how we should take care of our hair and how to style it,” said 16-year-old Ryleigh Holmes, one of the Girl Scouts eager to learn and share her story.
