San Francisco Police Department officers nabbed a suspect connected to a spree of hot prowl burglaries in the Taraval neighborhood. The arrest, made on May 28, targeted 28-year-old Gaspar Dzul Canul as the individual behind a series of unsettling home invasions.
Details from the SFPD release claim that at around 12:35 AM, officers descended upon the 1500 block of Funston Avenue. A male suspect, now known as Canul, was detained close by, at the crossroads of Lurline Street and Funston Avenue. Having a string of similar incidents and a matching description under their belt, officers were quick to link Canul to the recent crimes.
The officers, aware of Canul’s resemblance to the suspect in earlier reports and equipped with video evidence, were confident in tying him to the hot prowl burglaries. Canul allegedly attempted to breach two residential garages and was believed responsible for another break-in days earlier.
