CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) — The California Highway Patrol says the driver who caused a fatal, multi-vehicle crash that triggered a multi-lane shutdown of the I-805 in Chula Vista for hours on end has been charged with murder.
Per CHP, the crash happened just after 8 p.m. on Monday, on the 805’s southbound lanes, just north of Telegraph Canyon Road.
A 22-year-old San Diego man, who CHP has yet to identify, was speeding in a red 2023 Tesla Model Y when he “intentionally drove into the rear” of a gray 2025 BMW motorcycle, the press release states.
