Funding cuts to summer and after-school programs ‘gut’ Kansas City families

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – With billions of federal dollars on the line for summer and after-school programs across the country, Kansas City area non-profits and families are worried about what this upcoming school year will look like.

The federal government withheld $6 billion from federal grants for after-school and summer programs, English language instruction, and adult literacy. It’s unclear how much of that money benefits Kansas City area programs.
