JOHNSON CO., Kan. (KCTV) – Are you noticing fewer suspicious cars in your neighborhood? Or even fewer porch pirates? For Johnson County residents, it may be true.
From 2023 to 2024, property crimes dropped 11% from over 11,128 to about 9,853, and county officials say there’s a clear reason why. Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe detailed how personal security cameras have worked in their favor.
“People being able to willfully give their coverage on their cameras to police have solved a lot of crimes, and so technology has played a role in helping us uncover who are these individuals committing these crimes and then being able to hold them accountable,” Howe said…
