Portion of I-44 in Springfield to close for demolition of Melville Bridge

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Eastbound and westbound Interstate 44 between Kansas Expressway and West Bypass will be temporarily closed next week as crews work to demolish the Melville Road Bridge over I-44.

MoDOT says the I-44 closure will begin on Friday, July 11, at 9 p.m. I-44 will remain closed until at least Saturday, July 12, at 9 p.m., but no later than Monday, July 14, at 6 a.m., once the demolition and cleanup of the bridge is finished. Detour routes will be going through the James River Freeway (U.S. Route 60) and U.S. Route 65.

The Melville Road Bridge, also known as Farm Road 127, will be closed beginning on Monday, July 7, for up to 140 days to replace the bridge. Detour routes will go through West Bypass, Kearney Street, Kansas Expressway and Norton Road…
