D.C. extends youth curfew after rowdy gatherings

D.C. is expanding its summer youth curfew after city officials raised concerns about an increase in large groups of rowdy juveniles hanging out late into the night, sometimes causing disturbances or violence.

Driving the news: The D.C. Council unanimously approved a new emergency law Tuesday that starts the city’s youth curfew at 11pm, one hour earlier than the current midnight, and applies to 17-year-olds, up from 16-year-olds.
