Crash that closed eastbound I-70 last month may have been DUI: police

DENVER (KDVR) — A driver who was extricated from their vehicle following a crash that closed the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 at Kipling Street last month is now facing a DUI summons.

According to the Wheat Ridge Police Department, the crash was reported at about 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, on I-70 eastbound near Kipling Street. The driver was found responsive, and Arvada firefighters extricated them from their truck.

The driver had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

On Tuesday, the police department reported that the driver appeared to have struck an unoccupied vehicle that was on the side of the road and flipped the truck. The driver also allegedly had multiple open beer cans in the truck, and officers reported an odor of an alcoholic beverage on their breath…
