Terror by Gunpoint Ends: Waynesboro Man Sentenced to 26 Years for Violent Robbery Spree Across South Georgia

SOUTH GEORGIA – The Southern District of Georgia saw justice served this week as a violent chapter in its recent history was brought to a close. Cordell Cobb, a 24-year-old resident of Waynesboro, has been sentenced to more than 26 years in federal prison for a brutal wave of armed robberies that terrorized communities across seven Georgia counties in early 2023.

U.S. District Court Judge J. Randal Hall handed down a sentence of 318 months—over two and a half decades—after Cobb pleaded guilty to ten counts of Interference with Commerce by Robbery and two counts of Brandishing a Firearm During a Crime of Violence. Upon his release, Cobb will serve an additional five years under supervised release and must pay $12,081 in restitution to the victimized businesses. There is no possibility of parole in the federal system.
