Due to increased demand for electricity and power plant retirements, Athens residents can expect to see their electric bills rise by 15-20%.
Chloe Musick, director of public affairs and marketing at the Sustainable Ohio Public Energy Council, said these price increases are coming about as a result of an increase in capacity prices, which are one of the components that make up a customer’s electric bill.
“Ultimately, we’re looking at a few cents difference per kilowatt hour, which doesn’t sound like a lot, but they add up,” Musick said…
