Metro board holding illegal short-term rental owners accountable

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Thousands of people are set to visit Music City this summer, including Fourth of July weekend, but many of them could be staying in short-term rentals operating illegally.

A permit is currently required to rent, advertise, or operate a short-term rental property, but a deep look into the numbers showed some operators are trying to skirt around the rules. Nashville officials are working hard to hold everyone accountable.

“There’s a lot of action, there’s a lot of density in my district, and more on the way,” District 17 Metro Councilmember Terry Vo said. “It totally makes sense that there would be a large number of short-term rental permits in District 17.”…
