‘A needle in a haystack’: Lost wedding ring found at tree farm after 15 years

NEWPORT, Va. (WDBJ/CBS Newspath/WKRC) – Wayne Corprew never imagined he’d see his wedding ring again after losing it 15 years ago at a tree farm. But a recent call from Joe’s Trees owner Darren Gilreath brought unexpected news.

“I mean I couldn’t believe it,” said Corprew. “When I saw Joe’s Trees come up, of course I had no idea, then Darren asked me and I described the ring to him and he said, ‘Yep we found it.’ So it was amazing.”

Darren and Samantha Gilreath, who took over the third-generation family farm in 2018, discovered the ring while hand planting corn around their pumpkin patch. The couple had inherited notes about lost items from the farm’s previous owner, Darren’s aunt, who had kept records since the farm opened in 1962…
