GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Richmond Park Pool’s scheduled “Wag ‘n’ Wade” event this summer was canceled on Thursday, the city of Grand Rapids says.
The annual event is well-known around Grand Rapids and has had previous success, bringing dogs from around the community to take over the pool for a day.

“We’re really disappointed to end this event, as we know how much our dogs enjoyed the opportunity to swim,” Interim Department Director Laura Cleypool said in a release. “It was a community favorite and a summer highlight for many.”
The cancellation comes after the pool’s summer opening was delayed due to a new pump needing to be installed. The pool finally opened on June 26, but closed for a day on June 28 after a broken valve that affected water flow was found by operators, according to the city…
