Sheriff’s Office: 8 pounds of cannabis seized from vehicle after chase in Freeport

FREEPORT, Ill. (WIFR) – Two men face charges after a high-speed chase Wednesday in rural Freeport led to a drug bust, according to the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office.

Darren Miller, 36, of Freeport, is charged with possession with intent to deliver cannabis (2000-5000 grams), aggravated fleeing to elude a peace officer and resisting a peace officer. He also faces a misdemeanor charge for driving while license revoked.

Trarrell Thompson, 25, of Freeport, faces a misdemeanor charge of resisting a peace officer.

Around 5:15 p.m. July 2, a sheriff’s deputy patrolling Business Route 20 near Springfield Road noticed a a westbound vehicle driven by Miller, who the deputy knew to have a revoked driver’s license. When the deputy tried to pull Miller over, the vehicle reportedly sped into Freeport on Adams Avenue, reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour…
