BELLEVUE, Ky. (WKRC) — Teachers and school staff in Kentucky may face prison time for inappropriate relationships with students, but a legal loophole leaves some students unprotected.
Bellevue Police Chief Jon McClain highlighted a case involving an 18-year-old student and a teacher, where no criminal charges were filed despite the teacher losing his job.
“It was completely looked at as two consenting adults, which is kind of disturbing when you think about it as involving a teacher and a student,” McClain said. “Criminally, there was nothing I could do. And I kind of felt that was wrong.”…
