Gas station clerk who fatally shot unarmed customer Anthony McNary over beef jerky sentenced

A former Detroit gas station clerk was on June 27 sentenced to 20-50 years in prison for fatally shooting an unarmed customer following an argument over beef jerky.

Per ClickOnDetroit, the fatal incident happened at a Detroit ExxonMobil gas station in 2023. Authorities said the convicted former clerk, Moad Mohamed Al-Gaham, and the victim, Anthony McNary, engaged in an argument after the latter picked a beef jerky and put it in his pocket.

Al-Gaham is said to have confronted McNary, authorities said, adding that he searched the deceased victim’s pockets and retrieved the beef jerky before putting it on the shelf again…
