A union representing 179 union employees at the Country Fresh LLC dairy plant in Grand Rapids are suing the company for failing to pay sick leave.
In the lawsuit filed June 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan, the United Dairy, Bakery and Food Workers Local 386 alleges that Country Fresh has not offered its employees paid sick time and has refused to arbitrate the issue as spelled out in its collective bargaining agreement.
