Demolition set for long-vacant building on Ashland Avenue

TOLEDO, Ohio — A long-abandoned commercial building known for being an eyesore on Ashland Avenue is set to be demolished.

The building, located at 2140 Ashland Ave. in the Warren Sherman/Collingwood Springs neighborhood, has sat vacant for more than a decade. It suffered structural collapse, with part of the structure open and crumbling into the street.

Due to the structural instability, the building is on the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department’s “Code Red” list, marking it as a high-risk property for emergency responders and neighborhood safety. Firefighters do not enter any structure designated as Code Red, except to save a life…
