A 14-year-old male juvenile has been charged with multiple felony counts, including vehicular hijacking and aggravated battery, stemming from an incident in early June, the Chicago Police Department reports. The juvenile was apprehended and taken into custody on July 1, 2025, marking a concerning uptick in violent crimes involving youth.
As outlined in the police narrative, the incident occurred on June 10, where it is alleged that the juvenile used a firearm to hijack a vehicle belonging to a 39-year-old male, also taking his personal belongings. This confrontation took place in the 1700 block of W. Peterson. During the carjacking, the victim sustained serious injuries, an action for which the young offender is now also facing charges of aggravated battery.
