14 displaced after SUV crashed into Silver Spring home; driver hurt

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — The driver of an SUV was taken to the hospital after they crashed into a house in Silver Spring early Friday morning.

In a post on X, Pete Piringer with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service said units were called to the 400 block of University Boulevard around 1:45 a.m. on the Fourth of July. This is near West and Dennis Avenue.

Once on the scene, crews found that a black SUV had slammed into the side of a house. Piringer noted that the collision sparked a gas-fed fire, and flames began spreading to the gas meter.
