Tragic Malibu Cliff Crash Claims Jenner Friend

Additional Coverage:

Tragedy struck Malibu on Wednesday, July 2nd, with the death of 29-year-old Sophia Hutchins, agent and close friend of Caitlyn Jenner, in a devastating ATV accident. Hutchins was driving an all-terrain vehicle along a coastal road when it collided with another vehicle, sending her ATV plummeting down a steep cliff.

KCAL obtained video footage showing the wrecked ATV coming to rest on top of another vehicle that had apparently gone over the cliff earlier. The scene depicts the blue Polaris ATV amidst foliage at the bottom of a ravine, reportedly some 350 feet below the road.

Emergency responders arrived swiftly, but Hutchins was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the other car involved were unharmed.

Hutchins, also a transgender woman, formed a close relationship with Jenner following Jenner’s public transition in 2015. Hutchins often spoke of Jenner’s influence on her own transition while a student at Pepperdine University.

Over time, their connection deepened, evolving into a personal and professional partnership. Hutchins moved into Jenner’s Malibu home in 2017 and eventually took over management of Jenner’s career.

Hutchins was open about her experience as a transgender woman, emphasizing the sense of peace she found after transitioning. She was a frequent presence alongside Jenner on the E! reality series, “I Am Cait,” which documented Jenner’s transition journey.

In a final, poignant social media post, Hutchins shared a picture of a repaired cherub figurine, captioning it: “From a headless cherub, missing one leg, arm, and foot, to a healing cherub. You can officially call me surgeon, Dr. Hutchins.”

It is unclear whether Jenner was present at her nearby residence at the time of the accident. Authorities are continuing their investigation.
