Assault suspect shot, wounded by officers after trying to attack them with knife: Bakersfield PD

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Police officers shot and wounded the suspect of an assault who then tried to attack responding officers outside a Walmart on Thursday evening in southwest Bakersfield, according to officials.

The Bakersfield Police Department said officers were called to the Walmart at 5075 Gosford Road at around 7:45 p.m. for a report of an assault inside the store.

Officers arrived and located the suspect. The department said the suspect was armed with a large hunting knife and tried to attack responding officers who then fired at the suspect.
